Outfit // How To Dress For Changing Seasons

What I’m Wearing:
Olive and Oak Sweater from Sears (also seen on amazon here, and in black at Macy’s here) | Gap Coat, similar here – also loving this soft grey trench for spring | Alex and Ani Necklace | Express Wide Brimmed Hat (similar here) | Le Chateau Boots – now 50% off! (also loving these perforated booties, and these heeled mules for spring) | Black Pants from Sears (similar here and I also just bought these ones too) | Marc by Marc Jacobs Handbag (similar here and here, and I’m crushing on this one black crossbody from J.Crew also)

This time of year can be pretty hard to dress for, but not impossible. I’m hoping that by putting away my parka, Mother Nature will be nice and keep giving us mild temperatures.

That being said, it’s still cool enough to need a jacket – most of the time. One of my favourites ways to dress for the changing seasons is to wear a sweater under a lighter coat. The coat I’m wearing in this post doesn’t have a lining, so it’s not meant for the cold depths of winter. Which also means it’s perfect to wear when transitioning from winter to spring. One of the great things about wearing a sweater underneath is that it keeps me warm when the wind picks up, or when I step into the shade.

If I all of a sudden enter into the sun, or it gets pretty warm for a short period during the day, the sweater allows me to take my coat off and carry it over my arm – without being too hot or too cold.

Try this approach out next time you’re unsure of the weather. If you’re really worried about being cold, wear a larger tote bag and through a scarf into it as a back-up.

Another option would be wearing a warmer coat, with a lighter layer underneath. Because of the lighter layer you won’t be warm enough to take off your coat, but this works if you want to keep your coat on when the sun comes out (instead of carrying it).

What are your favourite ways to dress for the changing temperatures? I’d love to hear your ideas in the comment section at the end of this post.

Cheers,
Victoria
