Black and White Outfits Are Chic!

black and white outfits, fashion advice

Black And White Outfits

Black and white outfits are so chic! Am I right or am I right?! It’s a colour combination that you cannot go wrong with; so if you’re ever wondering what to wear, find all the combinations in your closet for black and white outfits and give them a try. Trust me, this is one piece of fashion advice that will not leave you disappointed!

Another factor that makes my outfit so chic, is that the product types I am wearing are classic and timeless. Let me point out that I do not mean these particular styles and silhouettes are classic and timeless; I mean  types in terms of the fabrication of the products.

To give you examples of what I mean, let’s break down my outfit into three parts, beyond the colour palette. I want you to have some practical tips and tricks to make your outfits look chic the next time you’re deciding what to wear to look put together.

1. TWEED

First, let’s talk about my skirt. I am wearing a tweed skirt, and in my option, tweed is timeless; therefore contributing to the overall “chic vibe” of the outfit. The style of the skirt is more trendy, not timeless, which I love because it makes the look more modern and fashion forward.

2. CABLE KNIT

Then, there is my cable knit sweater. Unlike the skirt, which had a timeless and classic feel because of the material type but not because of the silhouette, this sweater is classic and timeless in both instances – the cut and the material. A cable knit sweater is a wardrobe staple and has stood the test of time. You can always wear it, and you will always be fashionable. That, along with the classic cut, are why it makes for the perfect sweater when wanting to look chic.

3. ACCESSORIES

Last, but not least, there are my accessories.

As you can see I’m not wearing much jewellery – and simple jewellery is chic.

Then there are my boots. Like the skirt they have a timeless yet modern feel; the style of them changes in popularity, but a black boot is always classic.

Finally, there is my handbag. It cannot get more classic than Chanel – especially the Chanel 2.55, which is the epitome of a timeless handbag. Now I’m not saying that you should run out and invest in one yourself (unless you want to, I will totally support you – see here, here, here, here and here), but adding a handbag that looks similar to this will instantly make your outfit chic. Here are similar ones that look like the Chanel for under $20, under $35, under $140, and under $310 (CAD$, so even less for my American friends – lucky you!)

OVERALL

The black and white outfits you wear do not have to be in these styles and fabrications to look chic – the colour palette on it’s own will do that. But I hope that breaking down my outfit for you will put some style tips and tricks in your pocket for the next time you go shopping and/or are wondering what to wear.

Before I sign off and grab another cup of coffee, let me just say that this look is the perfect example of how you do not need to spend a lot of money to put together a great outfit. Everything besides my handbag was really cheap, but you can get a similar handbag for really cheap too, so case in point. Being on a budget does not mean you can’t look great!
