This is the perfect example of an outfit I didn’t know I needed until I owned it.
I bought these black high waisted shorts, and this blue and white striped top (how fun is the flounce!?!) while I was on my way to the beach for the day, with my mom, and we stopped for an impromptu shopping spree.
I’m so glad we did because this has been one of my favourite outfits this summer. I might even go as far as saying it is the perfect summer outfit.
The top is a mix of classic and trendy. Classic because of the thin blue and white stripes, and trendy because of the flounce. Plus, the style and colour of the stripes give off major summer vibes.
The shorts are also great for summer because they’re made of a lightweight fabric with a looser fit. I fell in love with them because, as far as shorts go, they’re pretty flattering on me. They’re high waisted, which accentuates my smallest part; and the fact that they’re black is perfect, because I usually stick to darker bottoms.
The wedges help elongate my legs, similar to the way high heels would. The thing about wedges though, is that they make walking for longer periods of time much more attainable. They’re also better for walking if you’re going to be on grass – say, at a garden party.
During the warmer months I tend to gravitate towards smaller handbags, because I have less to carry around. I have been in love with this Mackage handbag because it goes with so many outfits, and the white leather is absolutely summer perfect. That being said, I’m in love with this exact sae handbag in the new fall-winter colours that have just come out.
Finally, the denim jacket. Do I really need to say why the denim jacket is perfect? It is, after all, a classic. It’s great for throwing on over your shoulders when the temperatures cool off in the evening, or if there is a breeze throughout the day. It also gives off a more stylish vibe than a basic cardigan would.
