How To Wear A Plaid Coat
Plaid is having a really big moment right now, as far as fashion trends go, and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon (yay!). Pretty much anything plaid is a “hell yes” in my opinion and is available in so many online shops, in various colours and styles (see here, here and here). If you’ve been wondering how to wear a plaid coat – or are just looking to get good ol’ outfit ideas – then you’ve come to the right place, and I hope you can take inspiration from today’s post and make it your own.
One of my favourite ‘how to wear a plaid coat’ tricks is to casually style it with a pair of jeans and over-the-knee boots. It’s such an easy look to put together but the plaid coat takes the outfit to a whole new level – bringing it from “meh” to chic in the 2 seconds in takes you to put on the coat. Of course you can wear a plaid coat that is heavier/warmer if the weather calls for it; but one that is more on the medium to lightweight side gives you the option of making it “part of your outfit”.
I would say that the plaid coat I am wearing in this blog post is medium-weight. It’s warm, but not warm enough in the deep freeze of winter (unless you add a lot of warm layers underneath and a huge scarf on top!?). It’s light enough to wear as a car coat – to run errands or walk around the mall – but not light enough to be a “blazer coat” or a “sweater coat” that you can wear while chilling at a friend’s house. Overall, I think this coat is perfect for fall and winter in chilly/mildly-mid cold temperatures outdoors (not counting the option to layer).
